Observation Along The Way

We have made some observation on this trip and have decided to share them with you. Here we go.

  1. No state that we visited this year has been populous enough to require 10 digit dialing and all the cities have had only one area code.

  2. West Texas is NOT the only place where you can drive for 50 miles between towns and not see anything - try Nebraska

  3. Outside of the East, the South and California, racial diversity does not exist - 98% of the people are white.

  4. If you want to see really LONG trains go to the mid-west. The ones in Texas are miniatures by comparison.

  5. Contrary to what we see in Houston, not every square inch of land is being built on. There is LOTS of open land left - you just have to go out west.

  6. Texas and Alaska are NOT the only states that have oil. You would be surprised - AGAIN try Nebraska

  7. There are some states that are really just plain ugly.

  8. Not all junk yards are for old cars. Some are for old farm equipment - AGAIN Nebraska.

  9. Urban Sprawl does not exist along all interstates. There are some where the exits only go to someone's ranch or farm.

  10. Places exist where the local news you watch in the evening is actually from an entirely different state.

  11. Totally casual attire has not completely taken over the world. In Dallas and Forth Worth, people still "dress up" to go shopping, to museums and even to botanical gardens.

  12. In some areas of the country you can wear whatever you
want because style is not important.
