Going to be here awhile |
February 7, 2009 - Rockport, TX-
Well, I cannot believe it has been so long since we updated this
webpage! Time flies when you are having fun. We have just been
sitting here in the Sugar Land area working for a little over a year
now....was supposed to be only 3 months!! See what happens when you
sit still - you grow roots and get boring!
We got up last Saturday morning and decided to take a little drive
down to the coastal bend area..just on the spur of the moment. So
we gathered our things and off we went to Rockport. Rockport is
just a small coastal town here in
Texas. It is
sort of touristy in an quaint way as it is a place were a lot of
"Winter Texans" come to take advantage of the mild winter weather
and the good coastal breezes. It is far busier in the summer with
families vacationing. It is also a place that a lot of guys come
year round to fish. So it has quaint shops and some good
restaurants and places to walk etc. For those of you who may not
know, "Winter Texans" are our friends from the frozen north like
Wisconsin, Michigan or Canada who come down to spend the winter with
us and enjoy the milder climate. Unlike
Florida that
just calls them snow birds, we actually welcome them and dub them
Texans for the time that they are here. You would not believe the
number of RV parks
in south part of Texas built for just this purpose. It is much too
hot in the summer for anyone to enjoy so the Winter Texans get the
best of it.
On the way down, we talked about how boring our life has gotten and
we decided that we need to do more of this sort of thing. What good
is money if you are not enjoying it so look for more updates and
photos in the near future. I didn't take many pictures on this trip
but believe me I will get back into the swing of picture taking as
we begin to travel more around the great state of Texas! We have
pictures (again not many) of our recent
trip to Florida
to visit friends and we are planning a trip to the Lake Chapala area
of Mexico in
the near future. So do check back periodically as things will be
changing here again.
