October 22, 2006 - Dickinson, TX - Boy, this has been a busy week! We have had doctor's appointments, lunch with friends, dinner with friends, and finishing the floor in the RV. The floor is almost finished. We just have the trim around the edges and then to pick a floor for under the driver's and passenger's seats. It was not that difficult a job except for working in such a confined space. But it really looks nice. We are so glad that we did it. Today we had a special time with Leah and the kids. We went to the Wings over Houston Air show. We had a great time watching the old World War II planes re-enact the attack on Pearl Harbor. We were totally amazed by the aerobatics of Sean D. Tucker in the Oracle bi-plane. The show always finishes up with either the Thunderbirds or the Blue Angles. This year it was the Thunderbirds and, as usual they were wonderful! This was the first year that they have had a female pilot and, not that it makes a difference, it was just a nice fact to share with the oldest granddaughter. We did get some good pictures of them and you can find them in the photo section. We hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed the show.

October 16, 2006 - Dickinson, TX - This weekend we had the opportunity to visit with family at a birthday party. Philip celebrated 21 years of sobriety and we all gathered for a great meal and, of course, cake and ice cream. Even the dogs had a good time. We took KC with us and he mostly sat in our laps to stay our of the way of Sadie, Philip and Helen's boxer and Howie, Leah's Bassett hound. He didn't have to worry about the two Great Danes who also came to the party as they stayed outside. We had a great time but ate WAY too much of Helen's home made Italian food. Sunday was spent just watching it rain and rain and rain some more. We did get out and go grocery shopping which is always such fun - ha ha. The rest of the day was spent just doing the normal stuff - washing, playing on the computer, watching some TV, etc etc. This next week will be a bit busy and we still have to finish the new floor. We can't work on that since it is raining and they say the rain chances for today are 100%. Maybe we will get it finished by next weekend...and maybe not.

October 13, 2006 - Dickinson, TX - We apologize for not posting any updates this week, but it has been a very busy week. We also made a couple of trips into Houston. One for a doctor's visit and the other to taste and choose a cake for our wedding. In addition to this, we started putting a new floor in the den and kitchen of the RV. We finally decided on a laminate floor and decided on which color of would best match the existing wood in the kitchen. We chose Pergo wood-look flooring in Red Oak. This has not been a difficult but working in such a small space has made it interesting. We are almost finished and maybe we will post pictures when we are done. Right now, we are just trying to recover from all the crawling, bending, moving, etc that we "older" folks are not used to doing. We have a birthday party to go to tomorrow so we probably won't do any work tomorrow which will give us another day to recover. Just takes a little longer and, well, we have lots of time.

October 7, 2006 - Dickinson, TX - Yesterday was spent finishing taking the carpet out of the den area of the motorhome. What a job!! But that is all done now and we can move on with measuring and getting the new flooring to put down. We hope that putting in the new floor will be easier than taking out the old ones. But it had to be done.

Last night we went to a party at some old friends home. It was actually a going away party for a couple that is leaving us and moving to California. We had a really good time and it was great to see a number of people who I had now seen in several years. We hope that it won't be that long before we see them again.

October 5, 2006 - Dickinson, TX - We have been wanting to change some things in the RV and for the past 2 days we started one of the projects.  We want to put a Red Oak Pergo floor in the kitchen and den.  The past two days we removed the wood floor in the kitchen.  There was 3 layers of wood to be removed.  Tomorrow we will remove the furniture and carpet from the den.  It sure gets crowded moving the furniture around in order to remove the floor.  Everything is bolted to the floor.  With some luck we will be finished next week.  We will post pictures when it is complete.

October 3, 2006 - Dickinson, TX - Last night, we had dinner with some other RVing friends and had a good time visiting with them. Today was our first full day back in the Houston area and it was mostly a normal day. We did pick up the oldest granddaughter from school and then her mom and brother and sister joined us for dinner at the RV. It is always sort of interesting when you have 2 children 6 and under, an 11 year old, 3 adults and 2 dogs in the RV. We manage and actually did quite well, but it can get a bit close. We got to meet their new dog, Howie, tonight. He is a one year old Bassett Hound and I must say he is very cute. KC didn't think so though. He just really wanted this strange new visitor to GO AWAY!!

October 2, 2006 - Dickinson, TX - Today we moved from Arlington back to Dickinson where we will spend most of the winter. We had a wonderful weekend with Brock and Laura during our last weekend in Arlington. Saturday, we went to the Dallas World Aquarium which is a really neat place to visit. It is much more than an aquarium. It is designed so that you start on the top floor which is the top of the rain forest and you walk on gently sloping ramps down through the levels of the rain forest on down to the underwater level. The neatest thing was the three-toed sloth named Leno that is just right out in the open. His handler is next to him on a stool and feeds him pods from a tree which would be what he would eat in the wild. You, of course, can't touch him, but you are certainly closer to him than you would be anywhere else. This was a truly enjoyable experience and I would recommend that you visit if you are in the area.
